This course is designed for children who have some experience coding in Scratch and are ready to move to a text based programming language. We use the Python programming language to introduce the fundamental coding concepts for example sequences, conditionals, iteration, variables, data structures, functions and classes.

Python is a high-level, interpreted, and general-purpose programming language known for its simple, readable syntax, which often uses English-like commands. It is used by professional all fields e.g. artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data analysis, web development, and automation (scripting).

The primary objective is for students to have a better understanding of coding and the Python programming language and to be able to take on increasingly challenging coding problems.

We be using Python and Mu Editor, a code editor. Students should download and install Mu Editor from the following link https://codewith.mu/en/download prior to the start of class. Mu Editor will install Python so there is no need to install Python separately.
